How to prove the dough in the oven, if it is not equipped with special programme?
Issue
- How to make the yeast dough rise in the oven if the appliance does not have a proving programme?
- The ovens manual does not describe which setting/option can be used for proving yeast dough.
Resolution
1. The ideal temperature for the yeast to rise is between 30°C and 40°C.
At lower temperatures, it takes longer for the yeast dough to increase in volume.
2. If the appliance is not equipped with a proving programme, proceed as follows:
- Set the oven to 30-40°C with any type of heat setting.
- Let the appliance heat up for 5 minutes and then switch off the oven.
- Then put the bowl with the yeast dough in the oven cavity. Since the yeast dough needs moisture to rise, cover the bowl with a damp cloth, for example.
- Close the oven door.
- After about 20 to 30 minutes, the dough should have increased in volume and can be processed further as described in the recipe.
