Tumble dryer stops after a few minutes of the cycle

Resolution

Our current range of tumble dryers in AEG have both Sensor and Timed settings on them, so choosing the correct program for your drying is important.

If you find your tumble dryer switching off after a few minutes of the cycle it might be useful to check the following.

Timed Drying or Automatic Drying.

If you are finishing off clothes in the dryer that have been dried on a clothes line or on a clothes horse or if the load is very small we recommend you use Timed Drying.

oThe Timed Drying option is found on the control panel, pictured below.

oYou can used Timed Drying on Cottons and Synthetics and some other programs.

oWhen you Select the Drying program, press the Time Drying Button, it will display 10 minutes in the display, each time you press the Time Drying button the duration will increase by 10 minutes. When the duration you want is displayed press start.

oThe tumble Dryer will now dry for the amount of time you have selected.

oIf the dryer does not allow you to choose the Time Drying for the program selected, that means that Timed Drying is not available for that fabric type (refer to your user manual)

Automatic Drying Programs are great when you are putting your laundry into the tumble dryer straight away after being washed in the washing machine.

Choose the fabric type and select how dry you want the clothes at the end of the program with the Dryness Level button, pictured below.

oEnsure that you have the correct size load in the tumble dryer for the program (the maximum load per cycle can be found in the user manual).

oChoose the Dryness required for each load, for example Cottons Extra Dry is great for items that you want very dry after the drying cycle. Cottons Iron dry will be suitable for items you wish to iron after tumble drying and will not be quite as dry as the Extra or Cupboard dry programs.

oWhen you choose the Automatic Drying the duration of the drying program will appear in the display, this can change during the drying program as the tumble dryer will use the ProSense technology to dry the clothes correctly without over drying, see the short video below:

Some Other things to check if your Tumble Dryer is turning off after a few minutes are:

Check if the “water tank full” indicator is lit.

•The appliance will stop the cycle if the water tank is full.

•Empty the tank and restart the cycle.

Check the fluff filter is clean and empty before the drying cycle.

•The fluff filter is found at the bottom of the door opening of the dryer, pictured below

You can pull it out and it opens like a book, the fluff can be emptied into the bin and if you need to the filter can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner and then replace into position and restart the cycle.
